§ 2-175. Purpose and applicability.

(a)

The purpose of this division is to establish procedures for administering certain disciplinary actions for officers (as defined in section 2-177) of the police department.

(b)

This division is not applicable to the chief of police or to employees of the police department who are not sworn police officers or to police officers who are in a probationary period.

(c)

This division is not applicable to disciplinary actions involving written reprimands and suspensions of 24 hours or less. This division is applicable to suspensions, demotions, and terminations, as those terms are defined in section 2-177.
